Hello!
I'm Debbie Jeffery
Welcome to OutPour: a social enterprise based in Newton Abbot, Devon, offering guided writing activities for wellbeing.
OutPour is all about finding creative ways for people to express themselves by writing intuitively, through journalling, stories, poems, and song lyrics, with individually tailored sessions available in person and online.
Research shows that expressive writing helps us to become more mindful and self-aware, while calming the mind and increasing happiness. Reflective and creative writing can give a fresh perspective, unleash creativity, bring clarity, and may release anxiety and reduce stress.
Collaborating either one to one, or in small group workshops, I’ll guide and inspire you by using gentle prompts, word association, meditation, and music, to create in an uplifting way. Sessions are relaxed, inclusive, and unexpected – the trick is to stop thinking and just write!
No previous experience is needed, and we throw away the rule book for spelling, punctuation, or grammar. Most importantly, you never need to read out or share what you’ve written unless you want to, so you can write freely and learn tools to take away.
I’d love for you to get in touch through the contact page to discuss how OutPour could be a good fit for you.

The Italian Garden
Retreat from the demands of everyday life to come and write in the garden.
A mindful stroll, followed by an outdoor writing for wellbeing workshop in The Italian Garden. Absolutely no creative writing experience is needed, materials are provided, and there’s no pressure to read out or share what you write.
This evaluation was for a one-to-one OutPour session, using prompts for free writing and creating poetry for the first time:
‘I have been thinking a lot about our session yesterday. It was absolutely incredible and honestly it will stay with me for a long time. To be able to get something so painful and emotional down on paper is really healing and good for one’s soul and wellbeing. To be able to have a way of expressing how you are feeling privately or shared, is so positive. You will help so many. You should be really proud of what you’re creating.’ S
A poem can be three words, a limerick, a eulogy.
A song could be a memory, free writing, a rap.
Yours may be a love letter to a lost one, a story about betrayal. Unexplored hopes and dreams. A journal. A list.
A message for another, a life map for yourself, a reminder of good times.
